Get Set for Special Lotto Draw on Easter Weekend

The Easter Weekend promises to reward lucky Lotto players with some cracking prizes, with a Must Be Won draw set to take place on Saturday 19th April.
£15 Million Jackpot
The jackpot will be raised to £15 million for the special event, whether Wednesday’s £5.2 million top prize is won or not. The extra money comes from the Lotto Reserve Fund, which receives a percentage of the prize pot in every draw.
Apart from the enhanced jackpot, the draw will work the same as usual, with one key difference - if there are no tickets that match all the numbers, the entire £15 million will ‘roll down’ to the other prize tiers.
If this happens, everyone who matches at least two numbers will be awarded a significantly larger payout than normal. Instead of just getting a Lucky Dip, for example, all Match 2 winners will also get £5, while the Match 3 prize will increase from £30 to around £100.
Go to the page on Must Be Won draws to find out how the prize money is distributed if nobody wins the jackpot, along with more information about previous rolldowns.
The alternative outcome is that someone matches all the numbers and takes home the whole jackpot. That is what happened in the last Must Be Won draw on 22nd March. On that occasion the top prize was worth £11.7 million and had to be given away after reaching its limit of five consecutive rollovers.
Biggest Lotto Wins
The Lotto jackpot has rarely climbed much above £12 million since the new Must Be Won format was introduced in November 2018, as it can only roll over five times before it has to be won. Higher amounts are only offered in special events such as the upcoming Easter Weekend one, and usually it is worth £15 million or £20 million.
The largest Lotto jackpot in history dates back to January 2016 when there was no rollover limit in place. The top prize reached a staggering £66 million before it was split between two winning tickets - one belonged to an anonymous player and the other belonged to David and Carol Martin from Hawick in the Scottish Borders.
Just a month later, Gerry and Lisa Cannings from Peterborough were the sole winners of a £32.5 million jackpot in February 2016. Find out more about Lotto’s Biggest Winners.
