EuroMillions Player Becomes UK’s Tenth-Biggest Winner

EuroMillions Player Becomes UK’s Tenth-Biggest Winner
Updated: Monday 7th February 2022

A single player matched all the numbers in Friday night’s EuroMillions Superdraw to win the tenth-largest prize in UK lottery history. The enhanced jackpot was worth £109.9 million.

It was the first Superdraw of the year, with the jackpot boosted to €130 million. It could have rolled over and kept rising all the way to €230 million, but instead it was won at the first time of asking.

It was revealed shortly after the draw that the only winner was a UK ticket holder, who had matched the numbers 3, 25, 38, 43 and 49, with Lucky Stars 3 and 7. There were also 890,806 other prizes won in the UK, out of a total of more than 3.5 million across Europe.

Andy Carter, the National Lottery’s Senior Winners’ Advisor, said: “What an amazing night for a single UK ticket-holder who has scooped tonight's whopping £109.9 million special EuroMillions Super Jackpot.”

The prize was not claimed immediately over the weekend, with players urged to check their tickets to find out if they have won. The lucky winner has 180 days to come forward, and can then decide whether to go public or stay anonymous.

If the prize remains unclaimed for two more weeks, the National Lottery will reveal the area where the winning ticket was purchased.

It is the biggest jackpot to have been won in the UK since someone won £111 million in June last year, and one of the largest of all time. The record for a UK prize remains £170 million, which was paid out to an anonymous ticket holder in October 2019.

The majority of big winners have opted to stay private, so it is not even disclosed whether the winning ticket has belonged to an individual or a syndicate, or where they played.

However, a few winners have gone public over the years. Colin and Chris Weir of Ayrshire landed £161 million in July 2011, while the Bayfords won £148 million the following year and the Connollys banked £114 million in 2019. Take a look at the EuroMillions Winners page for more information.

The EuroMillions jackpot will stand at £14 million for the next draw on Tuesday night. Take part online or visit an authorised lottery retailer.
