Second Lotto Must Be Won Draw in a Row Set for Saturday 28th March
A second Lotto Must Be Won draw in succession will be held on Saturday 28th March, with the jackpot vaulting all the way up to £15 million. Find out why two special events are happening in a row!
Wednesday’s Jackpot Rolldown
There are two ways that a Must Be Won draw can come about in Lotto. The first is when the jackpot rolls over for five consecutive draws. The rules of the game state that it cannot roll for a sixth time, so a Must Be Won draw must take place.
This is what happened ahead of the draw on Wednesday 25th March, with a run of five rollovers pushing the top prize up to £12.1 million. Nobody matched all six numbers, so the jackpot money instead rolled down and was distributed between winners in other categories.
Two players who matched five main numbers and the Bonus Ball had their £1 million prizes boosted by £114,588 each, while all other winners received a larger sum than normal. The regular Match 3 prize of £30 was increased to £99, and even players who matched two numbers received £5 on top of their free Lucky Dip. Go to the Lotto Results page to see a full prize breakdown.
£15 Million Jackpot on Saturday
As well as having Must Be Won draws after five successive rollovers, the National Lottery also schedules Must Be Won draws from time to time. These normally coincide with significant dates such as Christmas or Easter, or when there is sufficient money in the Reserve Fund to organise a promotion.
The special draw on 28th March will mark the start of spring and feature a £15 million jackpot. This is higher than it can usually reach due to the five-rollover limit, so it creates an opportunity to become one of Lotto’s biggest winners in recent years.
If nobody matches all the numbers, the money will once again roll down. This mechanism does not alter the odds of winning, but it does mean there is a chance you will get a larger prize than normal.
Don’t forget to pick up a ticket before the cut-off time, then check your numbers after the draw to find out if you are a winner.
