EuroMillions Superdraw to Take Place on Friday 20th April 2018
Updated: Thursday 5th April 2018

A EuroMillions Superdraw has been scheduled for Friday 20th April, giving players the opportunity to win an extraordinary nine-figure jackpot. The top prize will be increased to a guaranteed €130 million (approximately £114 million) for the special event, regardless of whether the jackpot was won in the previous draw.

How do Superdraws work?

Superdraws are held from time to time throughout the year to generate excitement among EuroMillions fans across the nine participating countries. The only difference to normal draws is the jackpot, which taps into the Booster Fund to offer a guaranteed top prize, usually of €130 million.

The Booster Fund is a special pot which receives 8% of the Common Prize Fund from every regular draw. This reserve fund is necessary to ensure that there is always enough money available for the minimum jackpot of €17 million (approximately £15 million). When there are excess funds in the Booster Fund, special events such as Superdraws can be organised.

Does the jackpot have to be won?

No. Just like a regular draw, the jackpot will roll over to the next draw if nobody wins on the night of Friday 20th April. The top prize can then continue growing until it reaches its jackpot cap of €190 million. At this point, the jackpot will become locked at this level until someone wins or until four draws have passed. If nobody matches all five main numbers and both Lucky Stars in the fifth draw at €190 million, the money will then be split between players in the next winning tier.

Previous Superdraws

There have been 19 Superdraws since EuroMillions was launched in 2004. The most recent one took place on Friday 15th September 2017, when the jackpot kept rolling over until it hit its €190 million cap. A Spanish ticket holder ended up pocketing the full amount (worth £170.8 million) on Friday 6th October. Visit the Superdraws page to find out how often the jackpot has been won on the night of a Superdraw.

No need to wait

The Superdraw may be just around the corner, but there is no need to wait until 20th April to take part in EuroMillions. You can visit an authorised retailer, or join a syndicate online  to give yourself a better chance of winning the next big jackpot. Best of luck!
