Birthday Numbers Bank Set for Life Player £120,000

The randomness of the lottery knows no bounds, but this story shows how sticking with special dates when picking your numbers can go a long way.

Emma Parkins, a 46-year-old hairdresser from Bristol, was planning on a Lucky Dip for a Set for Life draw on 8th January, 2026, but changed her strategy at the last minute and used her family’s collective birthdays as her numbers instead. In a stroke of great fortune, this led to winning the second prize in the draw, — £10,000 a month for the next year for a grand total of £120,000 in annuity payments.

The numbers drawn on 8th January 2026 were 13, 17, 26, 29, 46, and the Life Ball was 4.

“I picked all of our birthdays and I still can’t believe those were the numbers that won,” she told lottery officials, wielding a massive Set for Life cheque. Parkins now has a great deal of freedom. Choosing for the time being to enjoy peace of mind rather than luxuries. But she plans to give her daughter an unforgettable 18th birthday in China.

It makes one think, how would you spend that kind of money? Travel or marinate. Or marinate while travelling. Or have a big party. It’s all possible when you win Set for Life.

The Draw

Set for Life is a twice-weekly draw game with drawings taking place every Monday and Thursday. To win, you have to match a combination of five main numbers and a ‘Life Ball’. The top prize is £10,000 a month for thirty years — to win this you must match all five main numbers plus the Life Ball.

The 8th January draw saw one winner of this top prize, banking £3.6 million over the annuity period. Not much is known about this winner, but Parkins won the second prize tier of Match 5 (without the Life Ball). In total, there were two winners of this prize tier.
