New Lotto To Offer Two Chances To Win on One Ticket

New Lotto To Offer Two Chances To Win on One Ticket
Updated: Tuesday 14th April 2026

Lotto is set to undergo a major update in June, with two draws instead of one every Wednesday and Saturday. This effectively doubles your chances of winning every time you play!

What is Changing?

From a ticket-buying perspective, the game is largely staying the same. Lotto will still cost £2 per play and you must still choose six numbers from 1 to 59. Draw days are still Wednesday and Saturday, but each night will feature two rounds.

Each round will see six winning numbers drawn, followed by a Bonus Ball from the remaining 53 balls. Each of the two draws is a separate event, so it is possible for some of the same numbers to appear twice. The numbers you play are entered into both rounds.

You win prizes in the same way as you do now, by matching two numbers or more. The jackpot is shared across both rounds, so if the top prize is set at £10 million and one player wins in the first draw, then another wins in the second round, each ticket holder will receive £5 million.

Must Be Won draws will continue to take place if there are five consecutive rollovers (with no winners in either round for five consecutive draw nights). If nobody matches all the numbers, all winners matching two numbers will get £5, and Match 3 winners may also receive a boosted prize.

Special Must Be Won draws may still be scheduled from time to time, while a Guaranteed Millionaire Raffle will also be introduced. When these raffles take place, a code will automatically be generated on your ticket and you will have to match it in order to win £1 million. It will work in a similar way to the EuroMillions Millionaire Maker.

New Lotto HotPicks

As well as New Lotto, the HotPicks game will also be changing to mirror the update. Just like Lotto, each of your picks will get two chances to win.

For example, if you play the Pick 1 game and select the number 59, it may not appear in the first round but then get drawn in the second round. This would earn you £3. If it comes up in both rounds, you double your prize!

The top prize in the new version of HotPicks will be £175,000 for picking and matching five numbers. The update significantly increases your chances of winning.

When Are The Changes?

Lotto and Lotto HotPicks are changing from Sunday 7th June, ahead of the draw on Wednesday 10th June.

Andria Vidler, CEO of Allwyn, said: “We are delivering on our promise to bring more games, more entertainment and more innovation to The National Lottery. With extensive upgrades to our digital and retail channels now complete, we have a fantastic summer lined up, as we are now able to bring these exciting new games to our players.

“Lotto has always been the best game to play if you want to become a millionaire. Our new Lotto gives players two chances of winning £1m-plus for the same £2 they spend on each Lotto line today, creating hundreds more millionaires every year.”

UK lottery fans will also have the opportunity to play Powerball for the first time later this summer.
