National Lottery Ready To Launch New Draw Game

National Lottery operator Allwyn is in a position to ‘launch new games and products’ after completing a major technological upgrade over the past 12 months, so a new draw game may be on the way in the near future!

Allwyn has not introduced anything new to the National Lottery’s line-up of draw games since replacing Camelot as the licence holder in early 2024, but it has undertaken a £450 million overhaul of its technical systems in order to modernise its offerings and prepare for a bigger and brighter future.

This investment included an update last summer of Allwyn’s ‘core retail technology in its 43,500 retail partners and gaming systems’. It has also transformed its digital capabilities, taking its website and app offline for short periods to help migrate 18 million player records and three billion historical transactions.

With new player protections now implemented, new state-of-the-art terminals in place and digital sales reaching an all-time high, Allwyn appears ready to roll out new games.

The National Lottery has a duty to raise as much money as it can for good causes across several sectors, and attracting new participants is key to its success.

Andria Vidler, CEO of Allwyn UK, said: “Allwyn is committed to restoring the magic to the National Lottery and delivering long-term growth. Being the guardian of this unique UK institution is a privilege and a responsibility we take incredibly seriously.

“We are delighted to have delivered growth to the National Lottery while successfully completing the largest international upgrade in lottery history. This is a hugely exciting time for the National Lottery and its players, as these much-needed upgrades now allow us to launch new games and products, meaning we can generate more money than ever before for Good Causes.”

When Could A New Draw Launch?

There has not been a new National Lottery draw game since Set For Life was launched in March 2019, joining other offerings such as Lotto, EuroMillions, Thunderball, Lotto HotPicks and EuroMillions HotPicks.

Allwyn has not indicated when a new game might begin, but media reports suggest it could be within weeks. Allwyn says the £450 million investment ‘unlocks a comprehensive programme of new games to produce more winners and attract more players and generate more money for Good Causes’, so it may be that several new products are on the way!

There are no specific details yet about how any new draw games might work. Perhaps it will be a daily draw with great odds of winning, a multi-national lottery in the same vein as EuroMillions, or maybe a game that is completely unlike anything to have been seen in the UK!
