Lotto Jackpot Must Be Won After Christmas Rollover

Lotto Jackpot Must Be Won After Christmas Rollover
Updated: Friday 15th November 2019

The final Lotto draw before Christmas failed to produce a jackpot winner, but there were some sensational prizes given away in a special seasonal raffle. The jackpot now also has to be won in the next game on Wednesday, guaranteeing that lucky players will have the perfect tonic for any festive excesses.

Lotto Results

The numbers drawn on Saturday 23rd December were 20, 32, 36, 44, 47 and 56, with Bonus Ball 41. Two ticket holders matched five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball to win £53,861 each, while the other prizes given away ranged from a free Lotto Lucky Dip for matching two main numbers to £1,399 for matching five main numbers.

Even if participants did not strike it lucky in the main game, there was another chance in the Lotto Raffle. There is always one guaranteed winner of £1 million in the Lotto Raffle, but last night were 220 prizes worth £20,000 rather than the usual 20. Visit the Lotto Results page to find a full list of all the winning codes, plus a prize breakdown from Lotto.

Jackpot Cap

The excitement of the pre-Christmas draw and all the big prizes helped to push the jackpot even higher than anticipated, and it nudged past its jackpot cap of £22 million last night. National Lottery rules state that, once this figure has been passed, the top prize must be won in the next draw.

The jackpot stands at an estimated £23.5 million for Wednesday night, and the full amount now has to be given away. If nobody matches all six main numbers, the money will be shared between players in the next highest winning tier.

Opportunity

This creates a wonderful opportunity to potentially pick up a multimillion-pound sum without having to match the full winning line. The last time the jackpot had to be won was on Wednesday 18th October, and five ticket holders split £25 million after matching five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball.

If you fancy pocketing a massive prize – the ultimate late Christmas present – you can take part online or by visiting an authorised retailer. Best of luck!
