£123 Million EuroMillions Jackpot Has Been Won in the UK

Updated: Wednesday 12th June 2019

A EuroMillions jackpot of £123 million has been won in the UK, after a Superdraw rolled over on Friday night. Tuesday night’s nine-figure jackpot prize is the third-largest EuroMillions jackpot ever won in the UK, and the largest won so far in 2019.

The results for the Tuesday 11th June EuroMillions draw were 25, 27, 39, 42 and 46, with Lucky Stars 11 and 12. Over two million prizes were won in the draw, but only one person matched all five main numbers and both Lucky Stars, laying claim to the entirety of the £123 million jackpot.

The winner has not yet come forward to claim their EuroMillions jackpot, and no more information has been divulged on where in the UK the winning ticket was sold. A representative for the National Lottery urged players to check their tickets.

Fourth EuroMillions Jackpot of the Year

The £123 million is the fourth EuroMillions jackpot won in 2019 so far; Northern-Irish couple Patrick and Frances Connolly won a jackpot of £114 million on New Year’s Day, followed by retiring steelworker Ade Goodchild winning a £71 million jackpot in March. An anonymous winner laid claim to £35.2 million in late April.

The jackpot is also the third-largest to be won on UK soil; Colin and Chris Weir from Scotland hold the record for the largest jackpot, with their £161 million EuroMillions jackpot win in 2011, while Adrian and Gillian Bayford’s 2012 win scooped them a £148 million prize.

The nine-figure sum won on Tuesday was the result of a EuroMillions Superdraw rolling over after not being won. On Friday 7th June, the jackpot was increased to a guaranteed £114 million, which then rolled over to Tuesday night’s £123 million prize.

What is a EuroMillions Superdraw?

A EuroMillions Superdraw is a special EuroMillions draw with a guaranteed nine-figure jackpot prize. In a Superdraw, the rules and prize structure remain the same as a regular EuroMillions draw, but the jackpot is increased to upwards of £100 million using funds from the Booster Fund. The Booster Fund receives a small percentage of the prize fund from each draw, with the purpose of boosting prizes for promotional draws, including Superdraws and European Millionaire Maker events. There have been 23 EuroMillions Superdraws since they were introduced in February 2007.

EuroMillions draws take place every Tuesday and Friday night, with jackpots that can reach as high as €190 million (around £160 million). Playing is as simple as purchasing entries from an authorised retailer near you, or participating online. Entering online means you don’t have to worry about losing your ticket and gives you the opportunity to subscribe so you’ll never miss a draw.
