When is the EuroMillions Summer Superdraw?

The date of the next EuroMillions Superdraw has been announced, setting up the opportunity to win a jackpot worth around £110 million. Find out more about this special jackpot event!

The Superdraw will take place on Friday 5th June and will follow the traditional format. There’s nothing different to a regular draw, except for the enhanced jackpot.

The top prize will be bumped up to €130 million (the amount is set in euros as that is currency of seven of the nine participating EuroMillions countries). It is then converted to pounds on the day of the draw to determine how much a UK winner would receive. Depending on the exchange rate at the time, this is likely to be somewhere between £105 million and £115 million.

If nobody wins the jackpot on the night of the Superdraw, the money will roll over as normal until someone matches all the numbers. Another possible scenario is that the jackpot eventually reaches its cap, although that would take a few weeks.

The most recent Superdraw was held on 20th February. The jackpot kept growing until it was finally hit on 10th March. It was a UK player who won the lot, pocketing £181 million to become the National Lottery’s third-biggest winner of all time.

Superdraws are only held a few times a year, and sometimes they are scheduled but do not actually go ahead. This happens when the jackpot naturally climbs to a higher amount than the advertised value of the Superdraw as a result of rollovers.

Last summer, for example, a Superdraw was lined up for early June. By the time the scheduled date came around, the jackpot was already on its way to its maximum amount of €250 million so the Superdraw was effectively postponed. A ticket sold in Ireland, belonging to a family syndicate from Cork, ended up landing the record-equalling nine-figure sum.

How to Win the Superdraw Jackpot

To win a EuroMillions jackpot, you must match five main numbers between 1 and 50, plus two Lucky Stars from a separate range between 1 and 12. Superdraws work in exactly the same way, and millions of players from across the UK and Europe will have their own strategies to try and win.

One popular approach is to use statistics, basing your selections on factors such as number frequency, common pairs or triplets, or how ‘overdue’ a number is. Alternatively, you could try the number generator to give you a random set of numbers. It is certainly a good idea to try to avoid obvious patterns or sequences so that there is less chance of having to share a jackpot if you win.

There are 139,838,160 possible number combinations that could come up in any given draw, and the only genuine way to improve your odds of winning is to purchase more lines. This could make a EuroMillions syndicate an attractive proposition, as it would allow you to submit more entries and split the cost with others.

Regardless of your method, the only way to give yourself a chance of winning is to take part. You can view the EuroMillions Results online after every draw as soon as they are available.
