The EuroMillions Jackpot is Now Worth £143 Million

Updated: Monday 1st October 2018

There were no winners of the massive £135 million EuroMillions jackpot in Friday night’s draw, so the prize money increases to £143 million ahead of the next draw on Tuesday 2nd October. See all the results from the weekend’s draw and find out how you can be in with a chance of winning the enormous jackpot.

EuroMillions Results for Friday 28th September

The winning numbers from Friday’s draw were 2, 4, 8, 27, and 50, with Lucky Stars 2 and 9. Although there were no jackpot winners, over £3.5 million in prize money was handed out to players from the UK, including £225,954 to a ticket holder who was just one Lucky Star away from winning the jackpot.

It was a particularly lucky night for players in Ireland, as a record four EuroMillions Plus jackpots were won. Unlike the main EuroMillions game, jackpots in EuroMillions Plus aren’t split, so each winner took home €500,000. One of the winning tickets was purchased online, while the others were sold in Kerry, Limerick, and Sligo. Ireland’s National Lottery has urged the winning ticket holders to com forward to claim their prizes.

You can see all the winning numbers and details of supplementary draws on the Results page.

How Did the Jackpot Get So Big?

A special EuroMillions Superdraw took place on Friday 21st September, in which a guaranteed jackpot of £115 million was put up for grabs. The prize wasn’t won, however, so it rolled over and increased in value for the following draw on Tuesday 25th September, where it once again went unwon.

This means that it may have been a blessing in disguise if you missed out on buying a ticket for the Superdraw, as nearly £30 million more has been added to the jackpot in the space of a week. If it isn’t won on Tuesday, it could well climb above £150 million. The jackpot will keep increasing in this way until it is won or it reaches its €190 million (£168 million) jackpot cap. When this happens, only four more draws can go by before it must be won in the fifth one.

UK’s Biggest Lottery Winners

If you were the sole winner of the £143 million jackpot, you would become the UK’s third-biggest ever lottery winner, leapfrogging the anonymous ticket holder who won £121 million in April 2018, which also followed a Superdraw.

Determining the UK’s biggest ever winner depends on which currency you’re talking about. In 2011, Chris and Colin Weir of Largs, Scotland, won €185 million, which when converted to sterling worked out at £161 million. Just a year later, in August 2012, Adrian and Gillian Bayford of Suffolk won the maximum possible prize of €190 million, but due to unfavorable exchange rates this converted to only £148 million, over £12 million less than the Weirs’ windfall.

These two jackpot wins have stood as the UK’s biggest for a number of years, but that could all change. The current strength of the Euro against the pound means that should the jackpot reach its cap again soon, a single ticket holder in the UK could become the country’s all-time biggest winner, and would take home close to £170 million.
