Portuguese Player Wins EuroMillions Jackpot

Portugal has created another EuroMillions jackpot winner after one lucky player matched all the numbers drawn on Tuesday night. The numbers which delivered the top prize of €36,563,144 (around £33,089,644) to the owner of the lucky Portuguese ticket on Tuesday 8 August were 15, 25, 26, 40 and 41, along with the Lucky Star numbers 04 and 05.

Portugal is now at the top of the leaderboard of countries for the most EuroMillions jackpot wins since new rules were introduced in September 2016. Tuesday’s win was the fifth that has been achieved by players in Portugal since last September, and that is one more than Belgium, France and the UK. Spain has won three jackpots in the same period, Ireland has won two, and Luxembourg, Switzerland and Austria are still awaiting their first.

Looking at the EuroMillions Statistics since the game was first launched in February 2004, we can see that Portugal is the fourth luckiest nation overall, with a total of 66 jackpot wins. France, Spain and the UK – which were of course the three countries which started the lottery in the first place – have won a total of 85, 82 and 67 jackpots, respectively.

Whilst Portugal stole the show in the Tuesday EuroMillions game this week, there were still plenty of winners in the UK. Of the four tickets that matched five main numbers plus one of the Lucky Star numbers, one was purchased in the UK to win a second-tier prize worth £116,466. More than 281,000 other UK tickets won smaller prizes by matching fewer numbers, and two players won £1 million each by matching one of the Millionaire Maker codes, which were JPPJ22903 and XPPF23301. Full details of Tuesday’s draw can be found on our EuroMillions Results page.

With the first EuroMillions jackpot win of August now safely in the bag, players can look forward to having a go at winning a brand new top prize of around £15 million this Friday 11 August. Choose your numbers if you would like to give yourself an opportunity to win big, and whilst you’re at it, you could also get involved in the Lotto game this Saturday 12 August, which will offer a quintuple rollover jackpot worth an estimated £14.3 million.

We congratulate the latest EuroMillions winner in Portugal, and we wish all the best to UK players who will be hoping to achieve something similar this weekend. A lottery win could be just the thing for those of you who want to escape the current summertime weather in Britain, so good luck and be sure to let us know if your numbers come up!
