How Playing in a Syndicate Can Boost Your Chances in EuroMillions

The success of a lottery syndicate from Sheffield has highlighted how beneficial it can be to team up with other players, after the lucky group of couriers snapped up a huge EuroMillions prize just a couple of weeks after coming together.

The 19-strong syndicate won £228,180 in the EuroMillions draw on Friday 16th March after matching all five main numbers and one of the Lucky Stars. Each member will receive just over £12,000, and they can now all draw up exciting shopping lists for how they plan to use the money.

Presented with their cheque earlier this week, the syndicate - called Infonote, after the delivery notes they leave for customers when they are not at home - celebrated with glasses of champagne. Group leader Craig Davison described just how much of a shock it had been to find out about the big win.

He said: “Everyone always dreams of winning the lottery and we obviously all hoped that our dreams would come true but I don’t think any of us really believed it would happen to us. It is something which always happens to other people. We actually only started the syndicate two weeks ago after hearing about a big rollover. We decided you have got to be in it to win it so we went for it. And we are so glad we did.”

Syndicate Advantages

Infonote’s strategy involved each member of the group choosing one line of numbers for every Friday draw, and it quickly reaped its rewards after they claimed the incredible win. Playing in a group in this way increases the chances of winning significantly, without making it any more expensive than if you were playing a single line on your own.

If you are thinking of starting your own syndicate at work or with friends, it is a good idea to put a few rules in place first so there can be no debate about how the tickets will be bought, what will happen if one of the players fails to pay their stake on time, or if someone wants to leave. Alternatively, you can join an online syndicate, where all of the hard organisational work is done for you and there is no need to convince friends or family to get involved. You can decide how many shares you wish to purchase and boost your percentage of any potential return by buying more shares. If you are lucky enough to win, you will be paid any prizes automatically.

Next EuroMillions Jackpot

You can join forces with others in a EuroMillions syndicate ahead of the next draw on Friday night, when there will be a jackpot of £66 million available if anyone can match all five main numbers and both Lucky Stars. The top prize has been rolling over since a Portuguese player pocketed €61.5 million (£54.6 million) on Tuesday 13th March.
