Special Lotto and EuroMillions Draws Set For Festive Period

Lotto and EuroMillions will give away guaranteed big prizes to lucky players this Christmas after it was confirmed that a couple of special draws will take place during the festive period. A must-be-won Lotto draw will take place on 22nd December, while EuroMillions will ring in the new year with an enhanced edition of Millionaire Maker.

Lotto Draw Must Be Won on 22nd December

The special Lotto draw will give you the chance to win a fortune in time for any last-minute shopping, or just set you up for the perfect Christmas. The National Lottery has revealed that Saturday’s big jackpot will be given away, regardless of whether or not any ticket matches all six main numbers.

If there is anyone in the ‘Match 6’ category, they will receive the top prize as normal. However, if nobody matches all six main numbers the new ‘rolldown’ feature will come into effect for the first time. The jackpot funds will therefore be shared between all other players who match at least three main numbers, significantly boosting the value of all prizes beyond the regular fixed amount. This means there is a better chance of winning a bigger prize than in a regular draw.

The ‘rolldown’ feature will primarily be applied in future when there have been five consecutive draws without a winner. Recent rule changes included a rollover limit to ensure the jackpot would be won more regularly, and now there can only be five rollovers in a row before the top prize must be given away.

10 Millionaire Maker Winners on 1st January

A EuroMillions extravaganza has also been planned for New Year’s Day, with 10 prizes of £1 million set to be awarded to lucky players. The draw will work in the same way as normal, but 10 winning Millionaire Maker codes will be announced rather than the usual two.

You automatically receive one Millionaire Maker code for every line of EuroMillions numbers you play, and have to match one of the winning codes exactly in order to win the seven-figure prize. You can use the EuroMillions Checker to see if you have won in the past 180 days.

There are set to be more special EuroMillions events in 2019, with the National Lottery announcing that one draw in the spring will create a guaranteed 40 millionaires.

How to Take Part

Lotto and EuroMillions draws will come thick and fast as usual over the festive season, and you can try to win a colossal Christmas prize by playing online or buying tickets from any authorised retailer. Best of luck!
