Lucky Couple Defies Crazy Odds To Win £1 Million for Second Time

A husband and wife from Wales have credited ‘the power of positive thinking’ after claiming a remarkable double win. Seven years after they landed £1 million in EuroMillions, they have now won the same amount in Lotto.

Richard Davies, 49, and Faye Stevenson-Davies, 43, first became millionaires in June 2018 when they matched the winning raffle code in the EuroMillions Millionaire Maker.

Despite knowing that the odds of it happening again were ‘outrageous’, they carried on playing the lottery and on 26th November 2025 they matched five main Lotto numbers plus the Bonus Ball to win another prize of £1 million.

While the chances of winning the Millionaire Maker differ slightly from draw to draw, they are around 1 in 5 million. The odds of winning in the Match 5 + Bonus category in Lotto are 1 in 7,509,579. Put the two scenarios together, though, and the lucky couple are thought to have beaten odds of around 24-trillion-to-one.

Anything is Possible

Ms Stevenson-Davies said: “We always believed winning was possible, and once we scooped £1m and met hundreds of other lucky winners, we realised fairy tales do come true and there are winners everywhere! We’re proof that if you believe, anything is possible.”

The winners are not sure what the future holds, but retirement does not seem to be on the agenda. Richard works seven days a week as a parcel courier, having given up his previous career as a hairdresser, while Faye has opened her own therapeutic practice after going back to university to gain a second degree.

Richard said: “Everyone keeps asking what we'll do in the future, and we genuinely have no idea at present. The first time around we gifted people cars, we donated a minibus to the local rugby team, and did our best to help friends and family, it was all new and it was amazing to be able to make a difference. This time, who knows, we'll take our time and enjoy the moment."

While they always dreamed of winning for a second time, the happy couple also had other reasons for still playing after their first win. Faye said: “We've also seen first-hand, through our volunteering at projects that have received vital National Lottery funding, the impact players make."

Must Be Won Lotto Draw on Christmas Eve

While Richard and Faye don’t plan to take any time off over Christmas and will carry on helping out the local community, the National Lottery is set to keep on giving away great prizes.

One of the highlights will be a £15 million Lotto draw on Christmas Eve, when the jackpot must be won. If nobody matches all the numbers, the jackpot will roll down and be shared out between winners in lower prize tiers.

Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor with National Lottery operator Allwyn, said: “With a £15m Must Be Won Christmas Eve Lotto Draw, there is guaranteed to be more big winners, so if ever there was a time to believe in festive magic, now's the time.”

Lottery.co.uk will keep you up to date with all the latest results over the Christmas period, and you can get involved by choosing your numbers online or going to a local retailer to buy tickets.
