EuroMillions Jackpot Winner Makes History With £119.8 Million Victory

A Swiss ticket holder has made history after winning a EuroMillions jackpot worth £119.8 million. The nine-figure sum, which works out at around CHF157 million, is the largest lottery prize ever to be won by a player from the mountainous nation and brings an end to a run of rollovers spanning almost seven weeks.

The winner correctly matched the numbers 8, 15, 30, 38, 46 and the Lucky Stars 4 and 7 in the draw on Tuesday 19th December to secure the game’s first jackpot win since a group of kitchen workers from Neath Port Talbot hospital landed a prize of £25.4 million on the 3rd November. The win, which ended a sequence of 12 rollovers, also saw a Swiss player claim the jackpot for the first time in over three years, when one of their compatriots pocketed £21.3 million in the draw on Friday 21st March 2014.

A Record Breaking Jackpot

The largest EuroMillions win in Swiss history topples an £80.7 million reward won on Friday 23rd August 2013 by an entrant from the west of the country and sees the latest winner land the eleventh largest prize since the lottery began in 2004.

The win, which would be enough to buy around 39.9 million bars of Toblerone from retailer Superdrug, continued its record-breaking rampage by becoming the biggest EuroMillions jackpot to be won in the month of December. It also propelled the number of top prize winners in 2017 to 21, a total that surpasses the amount of victors in both 2004 and 2005.

EuroMillions Prizes All Round

In addition to producing a Swiss jackpot winner, Tuesday night’s draw also brought a delightful sprinkling of festive cheer to over 2.2 million other players, each of whom snapped up a whole host of other prizes. Three players, including two Brits, each won £285,288 in the Match 5+1 tier, while seven ticket holders secured £28,477 apiece in the Match 5 tier.

Additional prizes ranged from £3 for matching two numbers to £1,547 for correctly predicting four main numbers and both Lucky Stars. For a complete prize breakdown and extra draw information, head to the EuroMillions results page.
