Winning Start for Jackpot Seekers
The New Year got off to a winning start for National Lottery jackpot seekers after both the EuroMillions and Lotto jackpots were won outright on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day respectively. On Friday 31 December one ticket matched all five main numbers and both Lucky Stars in the EuroMillions game to win £13,178,614, and then on Saturday 1 January a single ticket matched all six main Lotto numbers to win a rollover jackpot of £7,290,256. Add in one Millionaire Raffle prize of £1 million that was also won on New Year’s Eve – and a plethora of non-jackpot wins – and there was cause for millions of lottery players to celebrate the dawning of 2011!
The results in the EuroMillions game on Friday were 02, 24, 34, 38 and 43, and the Lucky Star numbers were 01 and 07. Although there was only one jackpot-winning ticket, seven players matched five of the main numbers and one of the two Lucky Stars to win a second prize of £362,016 each. 12 players matched five main numbers only to win £59,928 each, and 89 players matched four main numbers and one Lucky Star to pick up £5,772 each. The Millionaire Raffle number was FHR821795.
As far as the Lotto game on Saturday was concerned, the National Lottery results were 04, 09, 33, 34, 36 and 45, and the Bonus Ball was 26. A dozen players matched five of the main numbers and the Bonus Ball to land a second-tier consolation prize of £120,100 each and 368 players matched five of the main numbers only to win £2,447 each. As always, there were plenty of smaller prizes won by those who matched four or three main numbers.
All of this means that the jackpots for both the Lotto and EuroMillions games have now been reset. If you didn’t win yourself a life-changing prize last week then you can play online for a Lotto jackpot of around £2.4 million this Wednesday 5 January and you can also have a go at landing a EuroMillions jackpot of around £12 million this Friday 7 January. Enjoy the first week of the New Year and good luck!
