Waitress Wins a Million

Waitress Wins a Million

A woman who spent her last £5 on a Merry Millions lottery scratchcard was rewarded for her daring with a top prize win worth £1,000,000. Maria Murray, who is 41 years old and from Bristol, works as a café waitress for nine hours each week.

Maria had previously told her family, including her children, who are aged between 17 and 21, not to expect any Christmas presents because money was so tight. Fortunately, thanks to the special visit from Santa, all of that changed.

Although Maria is now a millionairess, she has no plans to quit working her £50 a week job. However, she does plan to purchase the council house that she has been living in for the last 18 years. She also intends to buy “a second hand Mini” and take her children abroad for a well-deserved holiday.

Whilst there will no doubt be some people who question this lottery winners decision to risk her very last £5 on a lottery scratchcard, there is no denying that it proved to be a very successful one. Maria can now look forward to a life of comfort rather than struggle, and we here at Lottery.co.uk wish her and her family a very Happy New Year!
