Unclaimed National Lottery Prizes

Unclaimed National Lottery Prizes
Updated: Thursday 24th April 2014

Several National Lottery prizes have expired unclaimed in recent weeks, and with plenty more prizes still to be claimed by their rightful winners, now is a good time for players everywhere to check their tickets to make sure that they aren’t missing out. Whilst it is perhaps understandable that some recent winners might have neglected to check their lottery numbers because of the hustle and bustle of the festive season, the danger of a player leaving things until they ‘have more time’ is that they will forget about the tickets altogether – something that probably happened in at least a few cases where prizes won at least six months ago just recently expired.

On Wednesday 8 December a EuroMillions lottery prize worth £263,598 was handed over to the fund for Good Causes after nobody came forward to claim it. The winning ticket had been purchased in the Portsmouth and Southsea area of the country, and the prize had been won in the draw that took place on Friday 11 June, 2010.

Less than two weeks later, on Thursday 16 December, a Lotto prize which had been won in the draw on Saturday 19 June expired. The prize in this case was worth £53,948, and the winning ticket for the Lotto game had been bought in the Borough of St Edmundsbury.

Then, just a couple of days before Christmas, on Wednesday 22 December, yet another sizeable EuroMillions prize expired. This one was worth £267,525, and it had been won in the draw that took place on Friday 25 June, 2010. The ticket here had been purchased in the Islington and City of London area.

Whilst it is too late for the owners of any of these winning lottery tickets to claim the prizes that they were once entitled to, it isn’t too late for the winners of more recent prizes to come forward. So, if you have bought any lottery tickets offline in the last six months or so, use our Lottery Checker tool to find out if any of them are winners – you just might be sitting on a fortune!

For those of you who are certain that you haven’t already won a major prize, you can play for a Lotto jackpot of £2.4 million this Wednesday 5 January and also for a EuroMillions jackpot of £12 million this Friday 7 January. Even better, if you buy your lottery tickets online then you won’t need to worry about missing out if you win, because notification of your success will be sent to you by email! Good luck!
