UK’s 'Luckiest Family' Win Third Big Lottery Prize

UK’s 'Luckiest Family' Win Third Big Lottery Prize

A family from Bo’ness in West Lothian have been dubbed Britain’s luckiest after snapping up their third big lottery win. A syndicate consisting of Peter and Mary Fry and their three daughters Isobel, Janet and Margaret won one of the two £1 million Lotto Millionaire Raffle prizes on Wednesday 18th May, a year after Margaret scooped £20,000 on Lotto Raffle by herself and six years after Peter’s cousin Annette Brown claimed £1.1 million in the main Lotto draw.

Just days after the luckiest lottery postcodes were revealed, Peter and Mary and their offspring staked their claim for possessing the country’s luckiest DNA following their latest windfall. Peter’s cousin Annette sent her best wishes on hearing of his good fortune, stating “winning The National Lottery made my life so much easier and I hope it's the same for him. I can't wait to see him and celebrate our luck together in person.”

When the family picked up their giant National Lottery cheque this week, Margaret recounted the moment her father discovered he they had won, “my dad went down to Tesco on Saturday as normal and passed his tickets over to get checked. The till operator advised him that he had won a ‘wee bit of money’ and it was too much to pay out in the store - thinking it was around £500, he had no idea we were about to become millionaires!”

“We called Camelot together and, after confirming all the details, they asked if we knew how much it was worth. When we were told £1 million we were in such shock - my mum kept saying 'a million?' in such disbelief. It was the most amazing feeling.”

The family’s latest slice of good fortune is the icing on the cake for a fantastic 2016 which has so far seen them celebrate Peter’s 90th birthday and Mary and Peter’s 65th wedding anniversary. The good news keeps flowing for the group too, as the couple’s sixth great-grandchild is due in July.

The five members of the group will continue to club together to play five Lotto lines in each draw, taking advantage of the odd-slashing benefits of playing in a syndicate where, for a small stake, you are provided with many more chances to win than you could afford as an individual ticket holder. Take a look at the Syndicates section to read more about this great way to take part in lotteries.

With a EuroMillions jackpot of £48 million on offer on Friday and Lotto’s top prize of £15 million up for grabs on Saturday, there has never been a better time to play lotteries online as part of a group. Good luck!
