UK Lottery Player Wins EuroMillions!
One UK lottery player made their jackpot-winning dreams come true last Friday when their ticket matched all seven numbers that were drawn in the EuroMillions game. The lucky winner has already come forward to claim their prize, which was worth £34,037,587, and lottery organisers have said that the sum could be paid out as early as today. It is not yet known whether the winner will go public with their success or choose to remain anonymous.
The EuroMillions results which delivered this latest jackpot on Friday 16 September were 05, 08, 14, 22 and 32, along with the Lucky Star numbers 02 and 11. Whilst the top prize was landed by just one winner, more than 2.49 million lesser prizes were won across the remaining tiers, including five second-tier prizes of £188,510 for matching five main numbers and one Lucky Star. The Millionaire Maker code, which was worth £1 million to the UK player who matched it, was SWL978493.
Friday’s jackpot-winning ticket was the eighth UK entry that has won a EuroMillions jackpot – or a share thereof – this year, and it comes just a few days before the rules of the game change to give players even more chances of becoming millionaires. The next two draws (on Tuesday 20th and Friday 23rd September) will be played in the usual manner, but then all of the draws which follow will be governed by new rules.
We have outlined the new rules in some detail elsewhere (see our Changes to EuroMillions page) but in a nutshell, players can expect bigger rolling jackpots, a new minimum jackpot of €17 million (around £14 million), an additional Lucky Star number to choose from, a new Monthly Bonus Draw for UK participants and two Millionaire Maker winners in every draw instead of just one.
The new game format will be launched with a special Mega Week, which will create multiple guaranteed millionaires in both of the draws next Tuesday 27 and Friday 30 September. The Mega Week will return at the end of every month thereafter, replacing the Mega Friday event which was launched in October 2014 and which held its last event in late August 2016.
We congratulate the UK player who won last Friday’s EuroMillions jackpot, and we wish the best of luck to everyone who has a go at winning in either of the last two games that will be played under the current rules.
