Thunderball Landed as Lotto Rolls
One ticket won the top prize of £500,000 in the Thunderball game on Wednesday 16 May, which is just as well because the main UK Lotto jackpot rolled over. The Thunderball results on Wednesday were 09, 15, 28, 29 and 36, and the Thunderball number was 05. Two tickets matched the five main numbers without the Thunderball to win £5,000 each, and another 179,524 tickets won prizes of up to £250 each by matching fewer numbers, with or without the Thunderball.
In the Lotto game, the main numbers drawn on Wednesday were 05, 06, 21, 41, 48 and 49, and the Bonus Ball was 37. No player matched all six main numbers so the jackpot (which had a final value of £2.41 million) rolled over to the next game this Saturday, where it will have a value of around £6.5 million. Three tickets matched five main numbers and the Bonus Ball to win a second-tier prize, and that was worth £248,115 each. 170 tickets matched five main numbers only to win £2,736 each, and 247,264 tickets won either £90 or £10 each by matching four or three main numbers.
Over in Ireland, the jackpot was just as elusive in the Irish Lotto game, where the results were 06, 07, 28, 30, 35 and 45, with 18 drawn as the Bonus Ball number. There were no winning tickets at the second-tier prize level either, but 16 tickets did succeed in matching five main numbers only to win €3,349 each. 70 tickets won €192 each by matching four main numbers plus the Bonus Ball, and 28,171 tickets won smaller prizes at the lower levels. The next Irish Lotto jackpot this Saturday will be worth around €3 million.
Having two Lotto rollover jackpots to play for this Saturday is exciting, but even more exciting is the lottery action that is scheduled to take place this Friday 18 May. First, there will be a multi-rollover jackpot of around £51 million up for grabs in the main EuroMillions game, and then 18 lucky players in the UK will win £1 million each in the special Millionaire ‘Super’ Raffle game.
With multiple chances to become a millionaire coming up this Friday and Saturday, demand for lottery tickets is sure to be high. Buy your lottery tickets early so that you don’t miss your own opportunity to win big, and good luck!
