Syndicate Wins Thunderball

Syndicate Wins Thunderball

A lottery syndicate of Mailcom employees in Milton Keynes is celebrating after winning the £250,000 Thunderball jackpot on Wednesday 11 November. The syndicate has 22 members, so each one will enjoy a share worth £11,363. You might expect the win to have been discovered by the syndicate leader, but Ruby Andrews forget to check the lottery results and didn’t find out about the win until Amanda Smith, one of the other syndicate members, sent her a message by text.

“I was out on Wednesday evening and forgot to record the Thunderball draw,” Ruby explained. “Amanda and fellow syndicate member Mark Barrett phoned all the others and I don’t think any of us slept that night out of sheer excitement. By 6am on Thursday when our next shift started, the entire company knew. Everyone has been terrific about it – even people who weren’t part of the syndicate were really pleased for us and there was a celebratory atmosphere all day.”

It’s always a good time to win a lottery jackpot, but for Ruby the timing of the Thunderball win really couldn’t have been better.

“The win came just at the right time for us,” she said. “My husband may be made redundant in the New Year so this will help cushion the blow. It hasn’t really sunk in yet so we haven’t planned how to spend it but we will be treating our children – our son is getting married next year so we’ll definitely set some money aside for that too. I think we’ll also plan a holiday in the very near future.”

The syndicate won with a line of numbers selected by member Sue Chittenden, and those numbers were 2, 5, 8, 12 and 19, with 2 as the Thunderball. Sue has revealed that the numbers were based on her date of birth, and that she has always played them.

Amanda, who discovered the syndicate win, is looking forward to buying a house with her partner and syndicate co-member Mark Barrett. “It will make such a difference to our lives,” she said of the win. “We’ve never been able to afford our own house but this will give us enough for a deposit.”

Lottery players all over the country are now hoping that they will be able to experience the same kind of jackpot-winning thrill when they play for a Lotto jackpot worth £2.4 million on Wednesday 18 November and also for a EuroMillions jackpot of £13 million this Friday 20 November. Buy lottery tickets online and that life-changing experience could be yours!
