Syndicate Wins Millionaire Raffle
We often associate lottery syndicates with the Lotto and EuroMillions games, but now that every EuroMillions ticket purchased in the UK has a Millionaire Raffle entry thrown in, we should get used to the fact that syndicates will be winning that game too. A 15-strong pub syndicate from Dudley is one of the very first to go public about doing just that on Friday 11 June, and with the Millionaire Raffle always paying out £1,000,000, each of the syndicate members is now £66,666 richer. The syndicate is led by Garry Adams who also happens to run The Old Star pub which brought the players together in the first place, so we’re guessing that a few celebratory drinks were enjoyed all round.
Gary’s discovery that the syndicate had won the Millionaire Raffle prize began when he received a phone call from one of the members and told him to check the lottery results. “It was Saturday morning,” he explained. “I was trying to think about the England match that evening, and here I was looking on Teletext and on my computer for £1 million pounds. I then saw a line of letters and numbers which is the EuroMillions Raffle code and the figure £1,000,000. I was laughing and crying at the same time and knocked over my cup of freshly brewed tea in all the excitement.”
Each of the lottery winners in the syndicate will obviously have their own ideas about how they want to spend their share of the prize money. Syndicate leader Gary still has to make firm plans, but he knows that he wants to give some money to his family. And as we said earlier, there will probably be quite a few drinks consumed by all concerned, and we here would like to raise our own glasses to the Millionaire Raffle winners who have once again proved that lottery syndicates can be very effective.
The next Millionaire Raffle game is of course this Friday 25 June, and when you buy tickets for the EuroMillions draw on the same day (which has a rollover jackpot worth £23 million) you will automatically be entered for it. In the meantime, there is also a £2.4 million jackpot to play for in the Lotto game tonight, so buy lottery tickets online today and you might soon be enjoying a few celebratory drinks of your own!Wednesday 23rd June 2010
