Suffolk Mum Wins Thunderball

Suffolk Mum Wins Thunderball

When most people think of winning a life-changing sum of money by playing lottery games they tend to focus on the Lotto and EuroMillions games, but by doing so they sometimes overlook the wealth that other games can bring. Nicola Wright, who lives in Leiston, Suffolk, didn’t make that mistake. Instead, the mother of four gave herself the chance to win a prize by playing the Thunderball game, and when she watched the draw live on television on Wednesday 3 March, she saw the lottery results that she needed to win the top prize of £250,000!

Nicola and her partner Kevin were watching the television together when the life-changing draw took place. “When I watched my five numbers come out I said to Kevin ‘I’ve won some money!’” Nicola said. “He told me to wait for the Thunderball to come out as I might have won some more. I couldn’t believe it when my number actually did appear. I just screamed and screamed and woke my children up who came running down the stairs to see what was going on.”

The Thunderball results on Wednesday 3 March were 01, 02, 04, 08, 11 and that all-important Thunderball number was 05. After watching her numbers appear one by one it took a while for Nicola’s excitement to subside, and she admits that she had a fairly sleepless night. “I went to bed later on but I still couldn’t believe my luck,” she said. “I made Kevin get out of bed at 3am to check the numbers on teletext again just to make sure. He had to keep telling me that I really had won a quarter of a million pounds.”

Now that she is £250,000 richer, Nicola has some firm ideas about how she wants to spend her money. “I really want to buy the council house we live in,” she said. “It has been our family home for over 12 years now. It’s always been to struggle to pay the rent, so it would be lovely to be able to call it our own and have that security.” Other plans include having a luxurious night out and taking Kevin to shop for a new car.

Our congratulations go to Nicola and her family, and we wish everyone else who plays Thunderball game a similar level of success in the future. The next Thunderball draw takes place tonight (Wednesday) and you can buy lottery tickets online just as easily as you can for the Lotto and EuroMillions games.
