Spectacular Saturday Lotto Success

Spectacular Saturday Lotto Success
Updated: Wednesday 9th April 2014

The owner of one lucky ticket achieved spectacular success in the Saturday Lotto game, beating odds of around 1 in 13.9 million (as well as everyone else who participated) to win the jackpot outright. The jackpot had rolled over in the previous game, so the final value of the top prize was £6,277,131. If the winner claims their prize straight away they can start splurging before the January sales have come to an end. Of course, with over £6 million to their name, the desire to bag a bargain or two probably won’t be as strong as it might have been a couple of days ago!

The Lotto results responsible for this massive success on Saturday 5 January were 10, 15, 17, 21, 37 and 47, along with the Bonus Ball 02 which the jackpot winner didn’t need. 17 winners who did need the Bonus Ball were those at the second-tier prize level, who also matched five main numbers to win £77,862 each. 433 tickets won £1,910 each by matching five main numbers only, and another 527,347 tickets matched four or three main numbers to win £70 or £10 each. Players who didn’t win a prize on Saturday (or who would like to win much more) can look forward to a new jackpot of around £2.1 million in the midweek Lotto draw this Wednesday.

We are always pleased when someone wins a Lotto jackpot, but we are particularly pleased this time because the EuroMillions jackpot on Friday 4 January wasn’t landed by anyone. The main numbers drawn in the EuroMillions game were 04, 10, 22, 27 and 41, and the Lucky Stars were 08 and 10. Four tickets (two of which were purchased here in the UK) matched all five main numbers and one of the Lucky Stars to win £293,022 each, making the first Saturday of the year one that the winners will remember fondly for quite some time.

15 tickets matched five main numbers only to win a third-tier prize of £26,046 each, and 52 tickets won £3,756 each by matching four main numbers and both Lucky Stars. There were more than 2.81 million prize-winners all told, and one UK ticket won its owner £1,000,000 by matching the Millionaire Raffle number JZT843255.

The lack of top prize winners in the EuroMillions game means that the next EuroMillions draw this Tuesday 8 January will offer a rollover jackpot of around £17 million. Visit this page to buy your tickets online and it could end up being the luckiest Tuesday of your life!
