Single Winner Scoops Triple
Updated: Friday 25th April 2014
A single winner scooped the EuroMillions triple rollover jackpot on Friday 17 July, 2009. The winner, who has not yet been named, matched the five main numbers (2, 8, 17, 32 and 50) and both Lucky Star numbers (3 and 7) to win a massive £49,802,092. Although the jackpot eluded National Lottery players in the UK, one player in Britain was among nine who matched five main numbers and one Lucky Star to win £257,824.
Another 13 players matched five main numbers only to win £50,653 each, and three of those players were in the UK. In fact, EuroMillions players in the UK managed to win over £3.56 million last Friday – not a bad result at all when you consider that the jackpot didn’t play any part in that figure.
The EuroMillions jackpot for the next draw on Friday 24 July has now been reset to the minimum value, which means we have £12 million up for grabs. As always you can buy lottery tickets online for EuroMillions, and you will no doubt want to pick up a few for the next couple of Lotto games at the same time.
Talking of the Lotto, last Saturday’s jackpot of £4.57 million was won by no less than six players. This means that each of the six jackpot winners scooped a £762,709 share of the top prize. Whilst it’s easy to think that the jackpot winners might have been a little disappointed to have overcome odds of 1 in 13,983,816 to win ‘only’ £762,709, that’s still a fair amount of money and not to be sniffed at during the credit crunch.
The Lotto jackpot for the next draw on Wednesday 22 July, 2009 looks to be worth around £2.4 million, so once again there is plenty of prize money available if you fancy your chances of winning a truckload or two full of cash for the summer holidays. Play online, check your lottery results after the draw and don’t forget to let us know if you happen to win big!Published: Monday 20th July 2009
