Saturday Lotto Jackpot Must Be Won!
The Lotto jackpot this Saturday 9 January must be won after the top prize broke through the £50 million barrier in the midweek game. The new Lotto rules that were introduced in October do not allow the jackpot to roll over more than once after the £50 million level has been reached, so if no player matches all six main numbers on Saturday the jackpot prize pool will automatically roll down to the next prize tier that does have winners. The final value of the jackpot on Wednesday was £52.9 million, and the top prize for the next game is expected to be worth around £57.8 million.
The Lotto results that eluded jackpot-seekers on Wednesday 6 January were 08, 30, 40, 50, 54 and 57, and the Bonus Ball was 13. Two tickets matched five of the main numbers as well as the Bonus Ball to win a second tier prize worth £74,900 each, which should be some consolation for the players who came so close to landing the biggest prize of all. Another 128 tickets matched five main numbers only to win £1,231 each.
There were 7,583 tickets that matched four main numbers only to win £134 each, and the smallest cash prize of £25 went to each of 179,547 tickets that matched three main numbers. In addition, over 1.82 million tickets won a Lucky Dip entry for the next game by matching two main numbers. As far as the Lotto Raffle game was concerned, 20 tickets won their owners £20,000 each and the Lotto Millionaire Raffle number NAVY 7184 3117 was worth £1 million to the player with the matching ticket.
The fact that the next Lotto jackpot is guaranteed to be paid out to players means that the game will become the biggest event of the month for most lottery enthusiasts, and the most overdue numbers to look out for on Saturday are 06, 33, 45, 05, 16 and 36. However, we also shouldn’t forget that the EuroMillions game on Friday will offer a jackpot worth around £44 million, which isn’t a sum to be sniffed at by any means. The most overdue main numbers for the EuroMillions game right now are 24, 01, 42, 47 and 28, whilst the most overdue Lucky Star numbers are 02 and 08.
As always, be sure to buy your lottery tickets early to avoid the last-minute rush, as bottlenecks can and do occur. Also be sure to check your numbers as soon as possible after the draw (downloading one of our free lottery apps might help you there) so that you can claim any prize won without delay. That said, enjoy the games when they are played and good luck with your numbers!Thursday 7th January 2016
