Royal Luck for Millionaire Raffle Winner

Royal Luck for Millionaire Raffle Winner

Friday 29 April wasn’t just an eventful day for those who were invited to the Royal Wedding – it was also a great day for 72 year old Thomas Harwood from Ferryhill, County Durham. Thomas became £1,000,000 richer after matching the number ZRM068085 in the Millionaire Raffle game, and he believes that his late mother may have brought him the luck he needed to land such a big win. “I really can’t believe that I’ve won,” he said. “It’s amazing! I went to visit my mum and dad’s graves on Friday and I took some flowers as it would have been mum’s birthday. I’m sure she’s got something to do with this win.”

Although the Millionaire Raffle game took place on the Friday, Thomas didn’t find out that he had won until Sunday. “I also play Lotto so I usually check all my numbers at the same time,” Thomas explained. “I’d dozed off in front of the TV when I was watching the snooker on Sunday and when I woke up I thought I’d better check my numbers. I really couldn’t believe it when I realised I’d pocketed £1 million!”

Thomas, who is divorced, has one son, four grandchildren and one great grandson. His family feature heavily in the celebration plans he is making, and as well as treating himself to a caravan in Redcar he intends to help his granddaughter by buying her a car and helping her with her university tuition costs.

“I beat the odds when I had mouth cancer three years ago so I guess I am quite a lucky person,” Thomas said. “I win every now and again on the horses but the most I’ve ever won on the lottery is £10, so to win £1 million is just unreal.”

We congratulate Thomas on his new-found millionaire status and remind everyone reading that the Millionaire Raffle game will now be played on Tuesdays as well as Fridays. To take part, all you have to do is purchase a EuroMillions ticket. There is a Mega Jackpot of £85 million up for grabs in the special EuroMillions draw this Tuesday 10 May, and if that eludes you the Millionaire Raffle game could still make you £1 million richer. Buy your tickets online today and good luck!
