Northern Exposure for Scratchcard Winner
Updated: Tuesday 8th April 2014
Jackpot winners in draw-based lottery games are always making the headlines, and although that is perfectly understandable it tends to keep big scratchcard winners out of the limelight. Today we want to help redress the balance by telling you about Mark O’Donoghue, a fishing enthusiast from Enniskillen who recently won a Money Multiplier scratchcard prize worth £100,000. Mark, who is 41 years old, is now planning to get some ‘northern exposure’ with his cash by embarking on a fishing trip to Alaska.
Mark is no stranger to lottery scratchcards, and has been playing them regularly since their launch in 1995. He has won several modest prizes, but his latest six-figure success is something else entirely.
‘I would normally buy a couple of scratchcards every week, and I’ve had a few wins of maybe £20 or £50 here and there, but I never imagined I’d win a massive prize like this!’ Mark said. ‘When I matched the three big cash numbers I couldn’t believe my eyes. After checking it a few times and asking myself if this was really happening, I started jumping and shouting around the place like a mad man.’
Mark’s reaction is perfectly understandable. After all, it isn’t every day that you spend £2 on a scratchcard and end up £100,000 richer. The instant win will now allow him to buy himself a new house as well as make a life-long fishing dream come true.
‘Fishing has been a real passion of mine since I became hooked from an early age,’ Mark joked. ‘I’ve always dreamed of going fishing in Alaska and now, thanks to the National Lottery, that dream is about to come true.’
We congratulate Mark on his lottery scratchcard success and wish him the very best of luck on his Alaskan expedition. If Mark’s story has inspired you to try and reel in a prize or two of your own, be sure to check out the online scratchcard games that can be played right here.
