New Mansion for Biggest Ever Lottery Winners
Updated: Thursday 22nd December 2016
Colin and Christine Weir, who became the UK’s biggest ever lottery winners when they landed a EuroMillions jackpot worth £161.6 million in July 2011, have decided to move into the mansion that they bought for more than £3 million in February 2014. Until now, the Scottish winners have been living in an £850,000 property that they purchased within weeks of their jackpot success, but they recently sold that to move into the much larger Frognal House in Troon.
Frognal House was built in 1909 and sits on an estate of 32 acres. The property has been used for a variety of purposes over the decades, and was purchased from Bill Costley, who along with his wife, Catherine, founded the famous Costley & Costley hospitality chain in 1988. Bill bought Frognal House in 2003 and, after investing more than £2 million in restoring it, opened it up as an exclusive use hotel before eventually using it as their home.
The Weirs, who have become famous over the years for their acts of charitable giving, will now be able to enjoy Frognal House as their main residence. Given that they spent five years at their previous address, the chances are that they will be at this much larger one for even longer, and we congratulate them on their new home.
The dream of living in a mansion is one that many people share, and as the Weirs and plenty of other lottery winners have demonstrated, it is a dream that really can come true. That being the case, it makes a lot of sense for players to spend some time thinking about the kind of home that they would like to have if or when their numbers come up.
If you agree with that sentiment, close your eyes and imagine that your numbers have just won you a life-changing lottery jackpot of your own. With money being no object, what kind of home you would buy? Where would it be located? How many rooms would it have? How would those rooms be furnished? What extra special features would you want it to have?
Perhaps you too would like to buy yourself a mansion-style property, with a private library, games room, art studio, home cinema, indoor swimming pool, home gym, health spa or even your very own ten-pin bowling alley. Maybe you would prefer to spend more time outdoors, and have your own golf course or climbing wall on the grounds?
Whatever your personal dream home looks like, it doesn’t have to remain a dream forever. Every lottery draw that you choose to participate in will give you a chance of winning the cash needed to realise it, so if you play regularly your life-changing jackpot win could happen at any time. You only need your numbers to come up once to change your life forever, so visit our Lotteries page to view the complete range of games available to you and good luck!Published: Monday 12th December 2016
