Nebraska Lottery Numbers

Nebraska Lottery Numbers
Updated: Monday 20th July 2015

Nebraska lottery numbers have been raising eyebrows recently after two consecutive Pick 3 games resulted in exactly the same numbers being picked at random. There was just one winner on the first occasion, but when the winning numbers were repeated the following night there were three winners, which might tell you something about the way some people play lottery games.

On Monday 19 January, 2009, the Pick 3 lottery results were – in order of being drawn – 1, 9 and 6. Then, on Tuesday 20 January, the winning numbers were – again, in order of being drawn – 1, 9 and 6. Nebraska Lottery officials say that the chances of this happening are around one in a million.

If you aren’t familiar with the Pick 3 game – and few readers outside Nebraska will be – then let us bring you up to speed. The game takes once each day except on Sundays and players are required to select three digits, each of which must be from the range 0 to 9. The top prize of $600 is paid to any player who matches all three digits in the correct order. The odds of doing this are 1 in 1,000.

The Pick 3 lottery numbers are generated at random by computer, and some readers might be wondering if there was perhaps some error with the lottery number generator that was responsible for the repeating results. Nebraska Lottery insiders have announced that this wasn’t the case at all – the numbers were generated exactly as they should have been, and they were in fact drawn by two different computers. The repetition was merely an incredibly coincidence. Even so, the Nebraska lottery numbers are sure to be a talking point among Pick 3 players for some time yet.
