Mid Wales Mystery Winner
A National Lottery player in Mid Wales won a share of the Lotto jackpot on Saturday 14 November, but has elected to remain anonymous. The winner, who can only be referred to as ‘Mr F’ lives in the county of Powys. He matched all six Lotto numbers (they were 01, 05, 09, 20, 23 and 39) to win the jackpot, but because there were five winners in total, the £4,222,850 jackpot had to shared the same number of ways.
It isn’t particularly unusual for someone to choose to remain anonymous after winning a lottery jackpot, but because the prize in this case was worth less than £1 million we might have expected the winners to be more open about their success. That said, the county of Powys is one of the most rural in the country, so it could well be that the winner would become something of a local celebrity no matter what size jackpot he had won!
Despite the fact that Mr F requested anonymity, his success has of course made headlines not just in Powys but in neighbouring Shropshire and even in the national press. There is something about mystery lottery winners that appeals to us all. We like the idea that there could be a lucky lottery winner living close by. Some of us also tend to like the idea of winning a lottery jackpot and being able to keep it a secret ourselves!
All we know about Mr F is that he purchased his winning Lotto ticket by electronic means, so he either played online or maybe even by text. However he did it, we congratulate the player we have dubbed the ‘Mid Wales Mystery Winner’ and we wish him a very merry Christmas and a happy 2010!
As for everyone else reading these words, there is a £2.4 million Lotto jackpot to play for tonight (Wednesday 16 December), and if that proves elusive you can also have a go at the EuroMillions triple rollover jackpot (worth £54 million) this Friday 18 December. Buy lottery tickets online today and if you win then you too could choose to keep it a secret!Wednesday 16th December 2009
