Massive Lottery Jackpots This Week!
The Powerball lottery game is hogging headlines right now thanks to a $400 million jackpot that will be up for grabs in the midweek draw this Wednesday, but UK players also have a couple of massive jackpots to look forward to. Rollovers in the most recent EuroMillions and Lotto draws mean that there will be a £34 million triple rollover EuroMillions jackpot to play for this Tuesday, and then a double rollover Lotto jackpot of around £8.4 million to try and win on Wednesday.
As it was the lottery results for Friday and Saturday that set up this situation, it makes sense to bring you up to speed with what happened in the recent draws just mentioned. Starting with EuroMillions, the main numbers drawn on Friday 2 August were 21, 36, 37, 42 and 48, and the Lucky Star numbers were 04 and 07. Whilst the jackpot itself slipped away from the players chasing it, four tickets – two of which were purchased in the UK – won their owners a very nice second tier prize of £275,044 each by matching five main numbers and one Lucky Star number.
There were 9 tickets that matched the five main numbers only to win £40,747 each, and another 44 tickets won £4,167 each by matching four main numbers plus both of the Lucky Stars. The total number of prizes won in the Friday EuroMillions game was 2,260,159, and one more prize of £1,000,000 was won by the UK player matching the Millionaire Raffle number DBX111992.
In the Lotto game on Saturday 3 August, the results were 03, 05, 09, 13, 17 and 37, with the number 15 appearing as the Bonus Ball. There were 17 tickets that matched five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball to win £52,389 each, and another 862 tickets won £645 each by matching five main numbers only. The total number of prizes won in the Lotto game on Saturday night was 704,061.
The Health Lottery game was another one that saw its top prize give players the slip on Saturday, because no player was able to match all five main numbers drawn. Those numbers were 06, 08, 23, 32 and 41, and the Bonus Ball was 24. The good news is that more than 9,800 tickets won a consolation prize, with the luckiest of those landing a second tier prize worth £10,000.
Congratulations to all of the players who won a prize of any size in the games just mentioned, and good luck to those of you who will be trying to land one of the massive jackpots available in the week ahead.
