Lucky Sevens for Scratchcard Winner
Updated: Thursday 24th April 2014
A lottery scratchcard player is celebrating after winning a prize worth £77,777 in the Super 7s game. Gareth Campbell, who is 28 years old, purchased the scratchcard from his local Asda store, and it was the number 7 which motivated him to give his luck a chance to show itself. Now that he has won the top prize, he intends to put it to good use – not by spending it on a fast car or a luxury holiday, but by using it to set up his own small business.
“Seven has always been lucky for me and when I saw the card was about that number I had a feeling I might win something,” Gareth explained. “The idea in one of the games is to find a lucky ‘7’. I scratched it off and there it was, with a prize of £77,777. Times have been a little hard recently so I just couldn’t believe that I had won the top prize.”
Gareth, who is a window cleaner, hasn’t worked for a while, but the Super 7s win has now given him a brand new lease of life, and in business terms he intends to stick to what he enjoys best.
“I now plan to set up my own little window cleaning business and my lucky card will buy me all the tools of the trade, with enough left over to give me a security I’ve never had,” he said.
We always love congratulating lottery winners, regardless of whether they have landed a £10 consolation prize, a multi-million pound fortune or something in-between. That said, there is something especially satisfying about congratulating a winner who has a clear idea of how they want to use their winnings in a constructive way that will benefit them for the long term, so congratulations to Gareth and we wish him every success with his new business.
