Lucky Leap Day for Lotto Players

Lucky Leap Day for Lotto Players
Updated: Tuesday 22nd April 2014

The opportunity to play the Lotto game on 29 February isn’t one that comes along very often, but it came along this week and two tickets ended up sharing a rollover jackpot worth £7,015,538. The next time a Lotto draw will take place on a Leap Day will be in the year 2020, so the two lucky winners this week have something special to boast about quite apart from the fact that they managed to beat odds of 1 in 13.9 million! The lucky Leap Day Lotto numbers were 13, 14, 29, 41, 46 and 49, and the Bonus Ball was 43.

We don’t know how many people included the number 29 among their Lotto selections on Leap Day, but we’re guessing that it would have been quite a few. The two jackpot winners certainly did, and each of those is now £3,507,769 richer as they start a brand new month with a brand new life of luxury ahead of them.

Seven tickets matched five main numbers and the Bonus Ball to win a second-tier prize of £132,983 each. There were 203 winning tickets at the third-tier level and each of those won £2,866 by matching five main numbers only. The remaining 267,943 winning tickets won either £107 or £10 each by matching four or three main numbers, respectively.

The jackpot in the next Lotto game this Saturday 3 March will be worth around £4.2 million. If you are interested in using Lotto Statistics to help you pick your numbers then we can tell you that the most overdue numbers are currently 18, 11, 37, 47, 34 and 20. Before we get to that game there is a EuroMillions jackpot of around £12 million to play for this Friday 2 March, and the most overdue main numbers for that game are 35, 32, 18, 37 and 23, whilst the most overdue Lucky Star numbers are 09 and 05.

Eagle-eyed readers will have noticed that the numbers 18 and 37 are ‘most overdue’ to appear in both the Lotto and EuroMillions games, so it will be interesting to see whether either of those come up this week. Of course, every set of numbers has exactly the same chance of appearing in the draws themselves so buy your lottery tickets online today and good luck!
