Lucky Eleven Land Lotto Jackpot
A lottery syndicate of eleven will be having a summer to remember thanks to a Lotto jackpot win on Saturday 26 June. The jackpot for that draw was worth £4.77 million, but five tickets matched all of the six main numbers (the lottery results were 18, 26, 33, 35, 37 and 47) so the syndicate received one fifth of the total available, which worked out at £954,934. With eleven players in the syndicate, that win gives each member a personal share worth £86,812. That isn’t enough to consider quitting work and embarking on a complete life of leisure, but it is certainly enough to make a big difference in the lives of the lottery winners involved.
All eleven members of the lottery syndicate work at a company called BSS Drainage in Eastleigh, and the syndicate refers to itself as ‘The Winners Club’. That nickname has proven to be about as accurate as the members could have hoped. After all, a lottery player can’t do much better than win a jackpot and the only way in which the syndicate win could have been even more impressive is if it had landed the whole of the jackpot rather than a fifth share of it.
The syndicate win was discovered when one member texted the others to say that they had matched five main numbers for a second-tier win. The other members quickly checked the lottery results themselves and started texting back to say that they had actually matched all six main numbers, landing the jackpot itself.
“We’ve been a syndicate for 16 years and use the same numbers every week without fail,” one of the syndicate members explained. “We were only joking on Friday afternoon about how we never win more than a tenner. It’s unbelievable to win this amount of money.”
The Winners Club members are now planning to spend their winnings on everything from home improvements and paying off mortgages to buying new cars and holidays. And of course, plenty of them will also be treating their families.
We congratulate The Winners Club and we hope that the members have a lot of fun spending their prize money. For those of us who have yet to win a big Lotto prize, the estimated jackpot this Wednesday 7 July is £2.4 million. And if that isn’t enough to get your adrenaline pumping, there is also a EuroMillions rollover jackpot of £23 million to play for this Friday 9 July!
