Lucky Dip Lottery Jackpot

Lucky Dip Lottery Jackpot

A Lucky Dip selection of numbers enabled a Swindon supermarket worker to sweep up a National Lottery jackpot worth £2,49,068 on Wednesday 1 July, 2009. Nicky Cusack, who is 43, had been having a terrible year prior to the win, having been diagnosed with having breast cancer in April. Fortunately, she has been in remission for a couple of weeks, so her lottery win will no doubt be helpful as she continues her recovery.

Nicky, who works for the Asda supermarket chain, bought her Lucky Dip ticket from a branch of Sainsbury’s. It was a lucky twist of fate that resulted in a life-changing win, but initially she thought that she had only won a minor prize.

“I read the first two numbers out to my daughter, Jade, and she said that I’d won £10, then I stopped when I realised I had all the other numbers but we both couldn’t believe it,” Nicky explained. “I phoned my eldest daughter Kelly and asked her to check and she thought we were joking. Then she said, ‘Mum you’ve won the lottery!’ She told me to phone Camelot but at this point I was shaking and it all became just a blur. It still hasn’t sunk in. It has been surreal.”

Nicky has four children aged 14 to 20, and until the breast cancer diagnosis earlier in the year she had worked hard to provide for them. Even now that she has won a National Lottery jackpot, she is very keen to return to her position with Asda.

“As a single Mum I have worked all the hours I can to make ends meet for my kids because I want them to have a secure, normal upbringing,” Nick said. “People may say I am mad to go back, but being off sick has been awful. Getting back to work has been all I wanted.”

We congratulate Nicky on her Lucky Dip win, and wish her the very best for a continued recovery. Anyone who wants to see if they can replicate some of Nicky’s success should buy lottery tickets online – there’s around £4.4 million up for grabs in this Saturday’s Lotto game!
