Lucky 7 for Midweek Lotto?
The midweek Lotto game takes place tonight, and six consecutive rollovers mean that, this time around, players will have the chance to win a top prize worth an estimated £20 million. Lottery fans who are familiar with the fact that the number 7 is often said to be luckier than others, will be hoping that the seventh draw since the previous jackpot success on Saturday 20 February will strengthen that view. Of course, there is no mathematical truth in the number 7 being particularly special, but if the superstition inspires someone to play for the jackpot and succeed, we doubt that the winner would care less!
Interestingly, the number 7 is currently one of the most overdue to make an appearance in the Lotto game, with the others being 45, 24, 20, 03 and 28. The most common numbers to look out for tonight are 23, 40, 38, 30, 33 and 11. Statistically speaking, none of those numbers has any more chance of being drawn than any other, but they don’t have any less chance either, so anyone who wants to include one or more of them on their tickets should feel free to do so.
Followers of our Lottery Statistics pages were rewarded in the EuroMillions game last night because two highlighted numbers appeared. The main numbers that were drawn on Tuesday 15 March were 05, 07, 10, 34 and 44, and the number 34 in that group had been one of the most overdue to appear, whilst the number 44 had been highlighted as one of the most common. The Lucky Star numbers that were drawn last night were 02 and 10.
No ticket in any country was able to match all five main numbers as well as both of the Lucky Star numbers, so the jackpot, which had a final value of just over £38.75 million, rolled over once again. The good news is that two tickets won £393,508 each by matching the five main numbers and one Lucky Star, and one of those winning entries had been purchased by a UK participant.
There were nine tickets that matched the five main numbers only, and each of those won a third tier prize of £29,138 each. Another 34 tickets won £3,857 by matching four main numbers and both Lucky Stars, and more than 1.89 million tickets won smaller prizes. The Millionaire Maker code, which was worth £1 million to the UK player who matched it, was FFD954589.
The next EuroMillions game on Friday 18 March will now offer a jackpot worth around £46 million, but first we have the £20 million jackpot to focus on in tonight’s midweek Lotto game. Will the seventh draw since the previous win prove to be the lucky one as far as landing the jackpot is concerned? The answer to that question is just a matter of hours away, so buy your tickets early to be in with a chance of winning and good luck!Published: Wednesday 16th March 2016
