A Lotto win of £1,477,059 will help a couple who have just had their wedding to enjoy marital life free of financial strain. Martin and Hannah Adamson, who got married on Sunday 4 May near Plymouth, matched all six main numbers in the draw on Saturday 10 May to win a third share of the £4,431,177 jackpot.
Martin is a weapons engineer for the Royal Navy, and the couple had anticipated having to move into Navy accommodation when Hannah gives birth to their first child in November. The win now means that they can buy their own home. It also means that they can enjoy a belated honeymoon – something that wasn’t possible straight after the wedding because Martin had to attend a course.
“I saw the numbers come up on the TV,” Martin said. “I thought they looked familiar but went to check them online. I called up to Hannah who was in the bath at the time. She didn’t believe me when I said we’d won the jackpot. Winning the lottery has been the perfect end to a dream week. We got married, we’re looking forward to the birth of our first child, and now we can buy a house and have a honeymoon too!”
Martin has been playing the lottery ever since it started, and just recently started buying his tickets online. Although the odds of winning the jackpot are exactly the same when buying tickets online as they are when buying from a traditional lottery retailer, online purchases are more convenient for most people with internet access. They also remove any fear of losing your ticket.
Martin and Hannah are now looking forward to taking a honeymoon in Hawaii and Las Vegas. Whether their run of good luck will continue in Vegas we don’t know, but we are pretty sure that the newlywed couple will have a great time regardless.Monday 19th May 2008
