Lotto Rollover Jackpot Landed Twice!
Updated: Wednesday 9th April 2014
The rollover jackpot in the Saturday Lotto game was effectively landed twice after two tickets beat odds of 1 in 13.9 million to match all six of the main numbers drawn. The final value of the jackpot was £6,188,608, which means that each of the two lucky winners will have an extra £3,094,304 added to their bank balance just as soon as their claim has been processed by lottery officials. The Lotto results that made it happen for the winners on Saturday 9 February were 08, 10, 27, 34, 40 and 41, whilst the Bonus Ball number was 48.
As experienced players will already know, jackpot winners don’t need the Bonus Ball, but it did come in very handy for the owners of eight tickets that matched it along with five of the main numbers. Those second-tier winners landed themselves a prize worth £169,404, and at the third-tier level 391 tickets matched five main numbers only to win a more modest (but still extremely handy) prize of £2,166 each. At the lower prize levels, 23,276 tickets won £80 each by matching four main numbers only, and a whopping 447,735 tickets matched three main numbers to pick up £10 each.
Regular readers may recall that this is the second week in a row that we have brought you news of a Saturday Lotto rollover jackpot being won by two players, and the EuroMillions jackpot on Friday also did exactly what it did one week earlier. That’s right, there was another rollover, which means there will be a triple rollover jackpot worth around £34 million this Tuesday 12 February.
The EuroMillions results for Friday 8 February were 09, 11, 14, 34 and 44, with the numbers 10 and 11 appearing as the Lucky Stars. Not only did no player win the jackpot, no UK player won a second-tier prize either, despite three tickets elsewhere managing to match five main numbers plus one Lucky Star. There were 11 winning tickets at the third-tier prize level, and we are pleased (as well as relieved) to say that one of those was purchased in the UK, winning its owner £33,629 for matching five main numbers only. Over 2.77 million other tickets won smaller prizes by matching fewer numbers, and the total value of prizes won by UK tickets was £3,078,516.
After all of that excitement we are now keen to see what happens in the midweek lottery games. If you like the idea of trying to win yourself £34 million in the Tuesday EuroMillions draw, or around £2.1 million in the Wednesday Lotto draw, click here to enter your numbers and we wish you the very best of luck!
