Rollover Jackpot for Year End!
Updated: Wednesday 31st December 2014
Today is New Year's Eve, which means that it's the last day of 2014 and the last chance for lottery players to win a jackpot before the current calendars are swapped for the 2015 editions. The previous Lotto game last Saturday saw no player win its top prize, so the final draw of the year this evening will offer a rollover jackpot with an estimated value of £5.4 million. In addition, the associated Lotto Raffle game will create 50 winners of £20,000 each, so if you don't win big in the main game you could still pick up a very useful prize there.
Lottery players in the UK had been hoping to win a EuroMillions jackpot last night, but the top prize of €15 million was actually landed by a single ticket that had been purchased in France. The EuroMillions results on Tuesday 30 December were 06, 18, 39, 44 and 50, and the the Lucky Star numbers were 08 and 11. The good news for players in this country was that one of four successful tickets at the second tier had been bought in the UK, and each of those entries won £201,210 (or the euro equivalent) by matching all five main numbers and one of the Lucky Stars.
There were six tickets that won £44,713 each by matching the five main numbers only, and another 54 tickets matched four main numbers and both Lucky Stars to win £2,484 each. All other winning tickets secured smaller amounts by matching fewer numbers, and the total numbers of prizes won in the main game was 1,633,553. UK players won more than £2.38 million in consolation prizes, and another ticket purchased in this country gave its owner a prize of £1 million by matching the Millionaire Maker code ZGH564952.
The next EuroMillions game on Friday 2 January will give lottery players the chance to win another new jackpot of around £11 million, but the last Lotto game of 2014 comes first, so someone reading these words could be just hours away from celebrating the New Year as a brand new multi-millionaire.
