Lotto Jackpot Nearing Rollover Limit

Lotto Jackpot Nearing Rollover Limit
Updated: Thursday 13th October 2016

The UK Lotto jackpot this Saturday 15th October will be worth an estimated £24.2 million after the last eight draws have ended in rollovers. If the jackpot rolls over again this weekend, then the top prize will almost certainly be paid out in the midweek draw next Wednesday, because the official rules state that only one rollover is permitted after a game in which a jackpot was valued at £22 million or more.

The actual value of the jackpot which rolled over in the previous game was £21.05 million, so it has already come quite close to triggering the rules for the Lotto jackpot cap. Incredibly, if no player wins the top prize this Saturday, then the rule will have come into effect twice in less than two months, because the previous jackpot win occurred on Wednesday 14th September, when a prize of £24.5 million rolled down to three second-tier prize winners. One of those £8.1 million prizes, won in Colchester, remains unclaimed.

Whilst most players would prefer to see someone win the jackpot outright by matching all six main numbers, knowing that the top prize will definitely be delivered in the next draw or two should inspire everyone to participate and give themselves a chance to win big. The most overdue Lotto numbers as we head towards the £24.2 million jackpot game this Saturday are 07, 48, 13, 01, 50 and 09, whilst the most common numbers are 40, 23, 38, 30, 44 and 33.

This isn’t the first big jackpot that lottery fans have been able to play for this week, because the EuroMillions jackpot on Tuesday 11th October offered a top prize of €168.08 million (£153.36 million). One ticket, which had been purchased in Belgium, matched all seven of the numbers drawn to win the life-changing prize, and although the winner has not been named, we do know that this was the biggest jackpot ever won in the country.

There will now be a new jackpot of around £15 million to play for in the next game this Friday, while two prizes of £1 million each are guaranteed to be won by UK participants in the associated Millionaire Maker game. Lottery players in this country will have multiple chances to win a seven- or eight-figure fortune over the weekend!

Will the £24.2 million Lotto jackpot be won this Saturday, or will the jackpot cap come into effect for a guaranteed payout next Wednesday? We won’t know the answer to that question until after the event, so be sure to download one of our free lottery apps so that you can check the results just as soon as the draw has taken place. Good luck with your numbers and we wish you a winning weekend!
