Lotto Jackpot for Hospital Syndicate
A thirty-strong syndicate of workers at Lady Home Hospital in Douglas experienced a surge of adrenaline recently when their lottery numbers landed a one-third share of the Lotto jackpot on Saturday 30 April. The jackpot for that draw was worth £4,018,101, so their winning ticket was worth £1,339,367, which equates to £44,645 per member. The syndicate, which has been playing the Lotto since 1995, is made up of nurses, admin staff, kitchen staff and support workers, and we are delighted to report that their winning ticket was purchased online.
Although the jackpot win was landed on Saturday 30 April, it wasn’t discovered until Monday 02 May when syndicate leader Julie McLuckie used her iPhone to check the latest lottery results. Those results were 01, 06, 12, 29, 36, 44 and the Bonus Ball was 21. That gave the syndicate a share of the jackpot and a much smaller prize of £48 for matching four main numbers with a separate entry.
“I confided in my close friend and fellow winner Marion Shaw to help break the news but since she is a bit of a practical joker, no-one believed us at first,” Julie explained. “The atmosphere in the hospital was electric and I am over the moon as it couldn’t happen to a better bunch of girls. The boss has told us she isn’t accepting any resignations but we all love our jobs – this is a very special place.”
So what are the syndicate members planning to do with their winnings?
“Celebrations are being planned and family shopping lists consist of holidays, new windows, cars – and a camper van for me,” Julie said. “Seriously, winning the jackpot has been a wonderful uplifting experience in these financially hard times. With the surname McLuckie, I’m thanking my lucky stars.”
We are pleased that Julie’s surname lived up to itself, and we congratulate all of the Lady Home Hospital syndicate members. Those of you who would like to see if you too can enjoy some jackpot-winning luck can buy lottery tickets online right here.
