Lottery Players Braced for Big Weekend
Updated: Monday 20th July 2015
Lottery players are bracing themselves for what promises to be a very big weekend. The action kicks off on Friday night, when the EuroMillions game will give players the chance to win a triple-rollover jackpot worth around £36 million and the Millionaire Raffle game is certain to make another player £1 million richer. Then, on Saturday night, the Lotto game will offer a rollover jackpot worth around £6 million, the Irish Lotto will boast a rollover jackpot of around €4.5 million and the Health Lottery will stage its first ever draw with a brand new Bonus Ball!
The results in the midweek Lotto game on Wednesday 8 May were 12, 15, 20, 31, 33 and 40, and the Bonus Ball was 38. The jackpot beat the estimate of £2 million by just over 10%, weighing in at an impressive £2,201,873. Unfortunately that jackpot wasn’t landed, but eight tickets did win their owners a very handy prize of £84,687 each by matching five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball.
There were 159 winning Lotto tickets at the third-tier level last night, and each of those won £2,663 by matching five main numbers only. Over 227,000 tickets won prizes of £86 or £10 each by matching four or three main numbers, respectively.
In the Irish Lotto game last night the main numbers drawn were 02, 05, 20, 30, 37 and 39, and the number 06 was drawn as the Bonus Ball. The biggest winners were found at the third-tier prize level, where 33 tickets won €1,435 each by matching five main numbers only, whilst more than 25,000 tickets won smaller prizes by matching fewer numbers.
The last Health Lottery draw under the current rules gave players the numbers 01, 02, 14, 30 and 43. There were no top prize winners, but over 1,500 tickets won prizes of £250 or £20 each by matching four or three numbers. Starting this Saturday 11 May, the new Health Lottery rules will come into force, adding a Bonus Ball to the mix and doubling the range of prizes that can be won.
We offer our congratulations to everyone who managed to win themselves a consolation prize in any of the midweek games just mentioned, and at the same time we are also hopeful that the best is yet to come.
