Lancaster Lotto Syndicate
A Lancaster Lotto syndicate is celebrating after matching five main numbers and the bonus ball to win £66,502 in the Lotto draw of Saturday 18 October, 2008. The lottery syndicate comprises 33 members, all of whom work in the Stores Department at Lancaster City Council.
The syndicate found out about their win on the Monday after the draw, transforming a regular Monday morning at work into an impromptu celebration. Ian Fitton, who leads the syndicate and also the manager at the Stores Depot, said: “I was speechless when I came into work to hear the good news. Not everyone was in, but word of our win quickly spread. Everyone is extremely happy - and what a great time to win, with Christmas just around the corner!”
Each of the 33 members of the syndicate will take home £2,015 – not a life-changing sum of money by any means, but certainly enough to put a smile of their faces and to afford splashing out on a few well-earned luxuries.
“It’s a nice amount to cover our festive treats,” Ian said. “Most syndicate members are talking about spoiling friends and family. It’s been really nice sharing the excitement with others at work – there’s no doubt we will continue the syndicate.”
The syndicate bought their lucky Lotto ticket from a Co-Op store in Morecambe. And the numbers that brought them sunshine were 3, 10, 12, 30, 39 and 40. The bonus ball was 23. The syndicate are planning to get together to celebrate properly after the half-term break.
