Jackpot Winner to Travel the World

Jackpot Winner to Travel the World

A 33 year old lottery jackpot winner from Burnley has said that he intends to use his new-found wealth to travel the world, but his first big decision was to quit his job before he had even claimed his prize! Anthony Young matched all six main numbers in the Lotto game on Saturday 02 April (12, 14, 32, 44, 48 and 49) to win a half-share of the £4,777,974 jackpot, giving him an instant fortune of £2,388,987. The win came at a perfect time because Anthony was working on a temporary contract that was scheduled to end in June, and he didn’t know what he would do beyond that point. Thanks to the Lotto, he can now do whatever he wants!

Anthony discovered his win the day after the draw had taken place. “I came back from a party on Sunday, and realised I may be a winner after I checked my results on TV,” he explained. “I thought I was seeing things so ran to my local shop to get a print out of the winning numbers and buy a paper to check my numbers again. When they matched, I then had to look on the internet – but by this time, I knew I couldn’t be wrong!”

Unfortunately, the timing of Anthony’s discovery meant that he had to wait for a while to make his claim. “As it was late on Sunday evening, the Lottery line was closed so I had to keep my ticket safe,” he said. “I went to the pub with mates and had it in my pocket the whole time before hiding it under my carpet when I went to bed. I didn’t sleep a wink and was out walking the dog at 4:00am on Monday waiting for the phone line to open!”

Even though Anthony hadn’t yet made his claim, he felt that he didn’t need to wait any longer to make his first important decision. “My mate came to collect me at 6:30am to take me to work and I told him I wouldn’t be coming in anymore and to give my job to someone else who really needed the money – as I’d won the Lottery!”

Anthony is now going to treat his family (including buying his mother a bungalow), pass his driving test and buy an Audi A7. After that, he intends to travel the world.

Well done to Anthony, and good luck to anyone who has a go at winning the Lotto double rollover jackpot of £10.4 million this Wednesday 13 April. Don’t forget that you can click here to buy lottery tickets for the EuroMillions game too. The EuroMillions rollover jackpot this Friday will be worth around £25 million, so if you win then you too could quit work and travel the world!
