Irish Lotto Nick-of-Time Claim

Irish Lotto Nick-of-Time Claim
Updated: Friday 25th April 2014

An Irish Lotto player has only just claimed a prize worth €350,000 even though her ticket won the Lotto Plus 1 game on Wednesday 13 May, 2009. Irish National Lottery players have just 90 days from the date of the draw to claim their prizes, so this winner was lucky to have discovered her win with some of that time left to spare.

The lottery winner, who is said to be from Cork, didn’t realise that she had won for a very simple reason – she hadn’t checked the lottery results! When she did finally get around to checking her tickets, she discovered the six figure win and was able to start the claim process.

But what if the lady in question had left her winning ticket unchecked for another month or so? In that case she would have automatically rendered her €350,000 win null and void, and the money forfeited would have gone into the pot for future Irish National Lottery games.

The lesson for all National Lottery players in the UK and Ireland is simple – check your tickets as soon as you can! There are a couple of simple ways to do this. The first is to visit this web site and take a look at our Lottery Results page. That will give you the very latest results for a variety of the most popular lottery games.

Another way to get the latest lottery results is to follow Lottery.co.uk on Twitter. Follow us and we will send you the lottery results within minutes of each draw taking place.

Want yet another option? Well, if you have an iPhone or iPod Touch you can download our iPhone Lottery app that allows you to check the results – and more – direct from your device.

However you choose to check your lottery results, it’s a good idea to make it a habit. The Irish lottery winner managed to claim her €350,000 just in time to avoid missing out, but that isn’t always the case so it pays to be prudent!
