Hunt for Missing Winners
The hunt is on for two lottery winners who have yet to come forward to claim their prizes. Incredibly, both tickets were for the Lotto draw on Saturday 3 October, 2009, and both matched five main numbers and the bonus ball to win £149,559 each! To save you the bother of checking, the winning numbers for the draw in question were 14, 21, 23, 32, 36 and 46, and the bonus ball was 17.
One of the winning tickets was purchased in the London Borough of Sutton, whilst the other was purchased in County Tyrone in Northern Ireland. This doesn’t necessarily mean that the winners live in those areas of the country – the tickets could have been bought by someone who just happened to be passing through on business or pleasure – so all Lotto players who might have purchased a ticket in either of those places identified should be sure to double-check it.
As we said yesterday, we have introduced a new Lottery Checker tool that has been designed to help players stay on top of their entries and so avoid missing out on big wins that might otherwise have gone unnoticed. There are other unclaimed prizes in addition to the two £149,599 sums stated previously, so it would be a very good idea for anyone who buys paper tickets to gather up all of the tickets that they can find around the home and check their numbers promptly.
Once again, we have a situation where there are two winners who would already have discovered their wins if they had bought their lottery tickets online. Hopefully the winners in question have their tickets stored in a safe place and will realise that they have won before the claim deadline of 1 April, 2010. If the winners don’t come forward before that ‘April Fools Day’ deadline, their cash prize will be handed over to the fund for Good Causes.
There are some big lottery prizes up for grabs this week – £2.4 million in the Lotto game on Wednesday 21 October and £54 million in the EuroMillions game on Friday 23 October. Our advice is to buy lottery tickets online so that you can get your hands on any prize that you win without delay!Tuesday 20th October 2009
