Happy Birthday Lotto!
Updated: Wednesday 19th November 2014
The first ever National Lottery draw in the UK took place exactly 20 years ago today, and as we wish our favourite pastime a very happy birthday we should also pause to appreciate the number of lives that National Lottery games have changed since 19 November, 1994. We're not just talking about the winners themselves, who have collectively won more than £53 billion since the lottery began, but also about the people associated with the more than 450,000 projects that have received cash from the Good Causes fund. Congratulations to everyone who has benefited from the lottery in the last 20 years, and we look forward to seeing even more of you succeed in the future.
The EuroMillions game appeared ten years after the original National Lottery draw, and was co-launched in 2004 by National Lottery operators in the UK, France and Spain. The game is still going as strong as ever, and although the latest draw didn't see anyone win the £26 million jackpot, it did help UK players to share consolation prizes worth more than £2.85 million. The EuroMillions results for Tuesday 18 November were 02, 03, 17, 36 and 38, and the Lucky Star numbers were 04 and 11.
Three tickets – two of which had been purchased in the UK – matched all five main numbers and one of the Lucky Stars to win a life-changing second-tier prize worth £260,022, whilst five tickets won £52,004 each by matching the five main numbers only. There were 30 tickets that won their owners £4,333 each by matching four main numbers and both Lucky Stars, and all other winning entries landed smaller sums by matching fewer numbers. The Millionaire Maker game created one additional UK winner who can now claim a prize of £1,000,000 after matching the code LBR241700.
EuroMillions fans can now look forward to playing for a triple rollover jackpot worth around £34 million in the next game this Friday 21 November, and don't forget that the Lotto game will be celebrating its 20th birthday this Saturday 22 November by creating 20 guaranteed winners of £1,000,000 each. As always, we advise you to buy your tickets early to avoid the last-minute rush.
Before we get to all of that, we first have a midweek helping of Lotto excitement to enjoy. Click here to enter your 20th birthday Lotto numbers online and if they all come up you could soon be celebrating your own birth as a brand new multi-millionaire! Good luck!
